Newcastle North of the Tyne Under the Stars
Concept
In February 2021 the North of Tyne combine authority commissioned a free public lighting festival to showcase the history and culture of the North East.

Challenge
With 6 individual artists and sites located across Newcastle, Graymatter had to work closely with DAT events and Pinwheel to coordinate and deploy equipment and crew within the strict setup schedule. Part of the brief included the precise location and placement of projection equipment to achieve optimal coverage on the building and architecture for each site, the most challenging of which meant projecting in-between lamppost and trees while also being mindful of the public viewing positions and keeping the technology hidden.
Solution
Graymatter deployed disguise media servers to process and plot the projection positions using 3d scans and models supplied by the client. Onsite the latest laser projection models from Panasonic were utilised to ensure bright and punchy results.
